As used below, a "business partner" is an individual or organization with whom Aries Systems maintains a relationship that is directly related and necessary to the fulfillment of the transaction that you undertake with one of the Aries' sites.
Please take a few minutes to read this policy so you understand when and why we request certain kinds of information, and what options you have for controlling your personal information.
Aries Systems will make every effort to safeguard any information you may share with us through any of a variety of possible online interactions and transactions. We will not obtain personally-identifying information about you when you visit our sites unless you choose to provide such information to us.
We do not disclose any personal information to a third party, unless that party is a bona fide business partner of Aries (as described above). We do not sell or communicate your personal information to third parties who are not business partners of Aries Systems.
Certain transactions that you may undertake at an Aries site may require that we request certain personal information from users wishing to take advantage of specific opportunities.
We request your personal information -- which may include such things as email address, name, address, telephone number, etc. -- in exchange for certain activities, including:
Some of our services allow you to purchase use of our databases or other electronic content. For transactions provided by these services, we require personal credit card information and an accurate email address in order to complete an e-commerce transaction.
Aries Systems uses the information it gathers for:
In addition, from time-to-time, we track site traffic by analyzing our Web server logs. We use the log information (for example, length of session, pages viewed, etc.) to help determine overall traffic patterns, to determine user interests and to continue improving the site to better serve our user community.
From time to time, we may directly contact a user regarding their experience in using our sites. We make every effort to limit these contacts to one per user, and also to limit the amount of information we request and the time you would need to spend if you choose to reply. The sole purpose of these requests is to help us better understand our users' experiences and feelings with respect to our services, so that we may improve the services.
As noted previously, Aries does not disclose any personal information to third parties who are not business partners of Aries.
We will provide your name, contact information and credit card information only to e-commerce transaction processors and your bank, and only in connection with an e-commerce transaction that you have initiated and asked us to undertake on your behalf.
We may provide your name, contact information and identity of a document that you purchase through our services to the publisher or copyright holder (i.e., the owner) of the document.
We will provide your name, contact information and details of a manuscript that you submit for publication to the publisher or the journal office that you have selected.
Our sites utilize state-of-the-art security technology to ensure the security, integrity and privacy of such information. Nonetheless, we are not responsible for any breach of its security or for the actions of any third parties that may obtain any personal information.
If you make a credit card purchase at one of our sites, we retain your card details on our servers only for the period of time that is required to electronically contact your bank to obtain approval for the transaction. Upon receipt of approval (or denial) of your card details, we retain on our servers only the first 2 digits and the last 4 digits of your card number, sufficient to identify the transaction if you should have further questions regarding the transaction.
You may request that we remove your personal information from our files, by sending an e-mail to support@ariessys.com. We will remove your information from our files, subject to any legal record-keeping requirements to which we may be subject.
After logging in to one of our services, registered users can at any time access their user information to make changes.
Aries Systems reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy at any time by notifying users (through posting an "Update" notice on this Web page and possibly others) of the existence of a new Privacy Policy or any updates. Any significant change in the use of personal information would not be retroactive to include information gathered under a previous policy.
If you have any questions about our privacy policy, please don't hesitate to let us know at support@ariessys.com.
