Overview
More new research... updated study findings... less time to keep up with the latest developments... Staying current with the latest literature in medicine is almost impossible -- unless you use Knowledge Update, your personalized search "agent" that automatically scans the new literature for you. Each year, more than a third of a million new literature references in almost 4,000 journals are added to the MEDLINE^® database. Knowledge Web® MEDLINE, available by Internet from anywhere in the world, is updated weekly (monthly in December and January) with the most recent literature additions.

Knowledge Update is available to all Knowledge Web MEDLINE users at no charge! You identify one or more search strategy profiles that identify the topics for which you want alerts. Whenever a new MEDLINE reference enters the database that matches your strategy profile, Knowledge Update sends you an alerting e-mail. From this e-mail, you can then access the available abstract for the article, and even order the complete article.

More Details
As a Knowledge Web MEDLINE subscriber, you can create up to ten different Knowledge Update alert profiles (one profile is available for test drive users). Each separate profile lets you specify:

A natural language query statement, using either fuzzy or explicit Boolean search logic, or one or more author names.
The relevance precision to be used for a fuzzy logic search.
How often you want to be alerted (weekly, biweekly or monthly).
The format in which you want to receive e-mail notifications (with a hotlink to the abstract, or in bibliography manager format).

When you receive an e-mail, and if you've requested abstract hotlinks, you just click on the link in your e-mail, and the corresponding abstract will appear immediately in your Web browser (Internet connection required), sent to you from the Knowledge Web MEDLINE server. Right on the abstract page, you'll then be able to order the full article electronically (additional charges apply for full article delivery).

You can add to, update or delete your alert profiles at any time using our Knowledge Update Customer Service facilities. Your alert profiles are strictly confidential, and can only be accessed with your Knowledge Web username and password.

Getting Started
To use Knowledge Update, you must first register for Knowledge Web MEDLINE use - a 30-day free trial is available for first time users. If you've already registered for the 30-day trial, or you're an active subscriber, you can go directly to the Knowledge Web service login page.
